Olympic Champions Race at the ICF Masters Championships
08.26 09:06 / Author: mkkszThe Maty-ér regatta course will get crowded again on 27-28 August as the 3rd ICF Masters Championships will take place with the participation of 27 nations.
Thursday was another busy day on the Maty-ér regatta course. A few days following the highly successful ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships by MOL where Hungary won 6 gold medals will host another international canoeing event as the ICF Masters Championships will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Competitors are already on site as registration and official training sessions have already started.
Twenty-seven nations registered for the event: 150 Hungarian athletes and 240 foreign national competitors will get on the water this weekend. Races will be held in 10 age groups, in men’s, women’s and mix categories, on 200m and 2000m.
And who will be racing in the weekend? Our Olympic Champions, István Vaskuti, László Foltán, Imre Pulai, Olympic silver medallist Éva Rakusz and József Deme, and our World Champions Béla Belicza, Róbert Hegedűs and Kinga Dékány will be competing.
Many World Champions and medal winners from other countries will be competing as well, and those who have already attended a Masters Championships can attest to the fact that just as great battles will be fought on the water as just a week before at the Olympic Qualifier World Championships.
